The Art Department is located in the centre of the school. In addition to regular lessons, boys develop their talents in weekly Art Club sessions, and the most committed can join the Portfolio Group...
The Design Technology Department comprises a spacious workshop and design room, complete with Smart Board and sixteen networked computers.
Drama is taught to boys in the First and Second Years as part of their timetable, and thereafter all boys have opportunities to audition for each term's major play, or to help out backstage or in the audiovisual box.
The ability to play an instrument is seen as the norm rather than the exception; more than eighty percent of the boys learn an instrument.
Our new school library, in what was once New Room, the oldest teaching space in the school, opened in the Summer Term 2021. Situated centrally on the ground floor, it is a welcoming and inspiring space where young minds can explore and learn.
We offer comprehensive but sensitive support for pupils with learning difficulties, and the school is determined that these pupils should have full access to the curriculum.
Sport has a high profile and proud history at Summer Fields, with many children representing the school at local, county and national levels. Football, Rugby and Cricket are the major sports, but by no means the only ones.
