Dougal retired in 2020 after 14 years as a prep school Headmaster. He joined Summer Fields in February 2021 to cover a staff absence for two weeks and has remainder at Summer Fields since.

Dougal has spent his entire career in education, including a 9-year spell as Housemaster and Head of Mathematics at the Dragon. He has been a governor of numerous schools, senior, preparatory, independent and state, including a special school for pupils with emotional and behavioural challenges. He has also been a Lead Inspector for the Independent Schools Inspectorate and a Headmaster's Mentor for the Independent Association of Prep Schools. He currently teaches mathematics to Years 6, 7 and 8.

When not at Summer Fields, he can be found practising yoga, walking his beautiful beagles Humphrey and Margot, at the opera or managing his rapidly growing collection of houseplants and bonsai.
